General Information 

You can now visit us without booking in advance.

During school term time it is possible we might have a school visit at the museum during 10am to 2pm (Tuesday-Friday). If you would prefer a quieter visit, please either email or phone the museum to check if this is the case.

Admission: Free

Opening Hours:

Monday: Closed

Tuesday to Saturday: 10am – 4pm

Sunday: Closed

If you are parking on Swansea University campus to visit the museum or attend a free museum event on a Saturday, or after 4 pm on a Weekday, please register your car with us at The Egypt Centre for free parking.

If you are attending any paid for events at the museum during these times then parking charges will apply.

COVID-19 Safety Guidelines

The Egypt Centre is working within Welsh Government Guidelines to keep our visitors and staff safe. The following guidelines are in place in the Museum to keep you safe:

  • Hand sanitising stations are available for visitors and staff.
  • We have further increased our hygiene regime.
  • We have a lot of interactive exhibits at the Museum – we will be taking special care to clean these regularly to keep visitors safe.

Getting Here

The Egypt Centre is based in the Taliesin Building on Swansea University’s Singleton Campus.

Parking

There is no parking available on Campus on weekdays. The nearest car park is the Pay & Display at Pub on the Pond run by Swansea Council, which is a short walk away from the Museum. Use postcode SA2 8PR for Sat Navs. Please note that parking is not administrated by the Egypt Centre.

By Bus

The Egypt Centre is situated on Swansea University’s Singleton campus and is approximately a 20 minute bus journey away from Swansea City Centre. View bus timetables

By Train

Swansea central railway station is located within the city on Swansea High Street.

Places to Eat

The Egypt Centre does not have a cafe but there are lots of different cafes on campus you can use. More information can be found here

(Please note that the cafes are not run or administered by the Egypt Centre)

There is also space to eat a packed lunch or picnic.


Accommodation

Local Travelodge hotel, which is just a 9 minute drive away from the museum, is a budget-friendly option for visitors looking for affordable accommodation nearby.
