W563Open Cosmetic Dishes

In the New Kingdom open form cosmetic dishes in the form of fish, trussed gazelles and ducks or geese were introduced. Sometimes these are known as spoons, though they are often categorised differently from the swimming girl type spoons in not having a handle. However, like swimming girl spoons, they are usually found in temples and graves and thus may have had ritual purposes.
