The Nine Deities from the Temple of Edfu

 

This study investigates a corpus of documents dealing with a group of deities, consisting of nine members, which appears frequently in the temple of Horus at Edfu and the temple of Hathor at Dendara. The aims of this research are to study the epigraphic and iconographic documents connected to these deities in the temples of Edfu and Dendara, to investigate their nominations, iconography, gender, attributes, ontology, origin and epithets whether referring to them as a group or individual epithets referring to each one of them, to investigate their historical changes, continuities, and developments and the identity of these figures, to inspect the rituals performed for them.
