The Delta barrage. The barrage was designed by the French engineer Moughal Bey and was finally completed in 1862. It was replaced by a new barrage in 1939.

The Al-Rifa’i Mosque with the Sultan Hassan mosque to the left. The Al-Rifa’i mosque was completed in 1912 and is the burial place of two sufi saints. The Sultan Hassan Mosque is one of Cairo’s finest medieval buildings.
