EC734

Faience box with two compartments. This is possibly a cosmetic/ ointment container. It is also probable that half of the object is missing and that there should be four compartments. Lattice work is painted on the front corners and a djed pillar on the front. Number 2646 is written on ink on the base, this is possibly a MacGregor number (see below).

The item fits the description of an object sold at auction from the MacGregor collection in 1922 (MacGregor was a collector of Egyptian artefacts from whom Wellcome purchased). It was presumably purchased by Sir Henry Wellcome from this auction.
