Two Graeco-Roman glass bottles (WK24 and WK25)

WK24WK25

Bottles like this usually date to no earlier than 100BC but could be as late as the 5th century AD. Their small size suggests they were used for cosmetics or for eye makeup.

The pinkish coloured shining effect on the bottle on the right (WK25) is a result of decay, and was not the bottle’s original colour.

Both bottles are on loan from Woking College to the Egypt Centre.
