Textile Study Group

The Group, led by the curator, Carolyn Graves-Brown, was inspired by Rosalind Janssen’s talk to the Friends of the Egypt Centre.  It was set up in 2007 with the help of a small group of Egypt Centre volunteers. The aim was to find out more about the textiles in the museum but also to make some replica Egyptian clothes for educational use.

Some of the patterns used were from various sources such as the Petrie Museum and Gillian Vogelsang-Eastwood’s Pharaonic Egyptian Clothing (1993,  E.J.Brill, Leiden)
