‘The Daily Life of the Pharaohs’.

In this lecture, through the inscriptions of courtiers and kings, administrative documents, the work of classical writers, and the remains of palaces, details on the daily lives of the pharaohs will be brought to light. Many questions will be addressed, such as how did the king spend his mornings? What did he wear? Where did he eat? How involved was he in political decisions? And did he fight alongside his troops when on campaign? In this manner the reality of being pharaoh will be highlighted, as opposed to his idealised role as eternally perfect defender of order .
