Handling artefacts

                 

 

• The Egypt Centre is one of the few places where visitors are allowed to handle real ancient objects!
• This activity enables visitors to come into close contact with real ancient Egyptian artefacts, some possibly 6,000 years old
• Visitors are encouraged to guess what the objects were used for, how they were made and what materials they were made from
• The importance of preserving artefacts is discussed, as well as our safe handling procedures and why we have to wear special gloves to handle them
